Immigration (Katsuhito Ote)

As far as traveling is concerned, as a close ally of the United States, it is not difficult for the Japanese people to visit America. The "free pass" does not only apply to our allied nations, including America, but also to almost all countries across the world. In fact we can freely visit foreign countries for three months only with our passports (we do not have to get tourist visas), unless our Foreign Ministry imposes strict restrictions on traveling to a particular area for political or safety reasons. However, Rome was not built in a day. This kind of "convenience" has not been achieved easily. Our ancestors made tremendous efforts to win the world's trust. As their offsprings, we cannot thank them enough. By the same token, our generation needs to keep working hard not to ruin their legacy. We have to keep making substantial contributions to the world.
When it comes to immigration, though, Japan is not an exception. We have to go through exactly the same process as everyone else. In order to stay in America for more than three months, for example, we have to get a visa before we get here. If we want to obtain a green card or citizenship, we also have to go through the entire "mind-boggling" process.
Speaking of our domestic immigration situation, we have several "issues." For instance, we have hundreds of thousands of South and North Koreans and Chinese people who are privileged to enjoy almost exactly the same rights as the Japanese citizens, while they still maintain their citizenship as Koreans and Chinese. They are allowed to live in Japan as long as they like with almost "zero" restriction. While they insist upon their equal "rights," they are often exempted from "obligations" since they are not Japanese citizens. Due to the heightened tensions between the neighboring countries in the Far East, immigration is now becoming a hot issue in my country.

about an immigration experiences of your own or someone.

I have a great experience of being immigrants after i left my country in 2008. i had an first experience when i first landed in hongkong, i was not allowed to go outside the airport because i was an immigrant. i felt so lonely and sad. happiness and sadness are the two factors of every human beings and i exeperienced these two factors mainly practised by immigrants. obviously immigrants have lots of problems because they are the people from different countries and it is real hard to tackle and face with different things of different countries. the first thing i felt is homesickness. almost every immigrants feel that after they left their motherland. i felt like i could not do anything in this new land due to the continuous memory of my home country displayed in my mind. i felt the cultural shock . for example:- i am hindu and majority americans are christians, in my culture we are not allowed to eat the beef because cow is our national animal but it is uncommon in american society. various traditions, beliefs and norms are the factors which bring great differences in new country. language problem is the first major thing which made us like dumb which i felt too due to the different accent in my first days. different rules are to be practised which take long time to learn and real difficult to adopt in the new days, besides this immigration rules are more strict. i want to share my friend exeperience: he was caught by the cops suspecting a criminal because his face was not american and he is from my own country then investigation started, later on cops asked sorry and left him reporting him not involved in any kind of bad things and his record is nice. this made him nervous and effect his psychology. i mean to say that these kind of things also made immigrants so lonely and messed up. besides these things i want to share my experience of being immigrant and international student, it is real hard to survive and study together. this is because we are not given any loans, insurancre, etc. life is real hard for the illegal immigrants in comparision to legal ones. in some contest immigrants are treated as the people from any other plantes. immigrants have to do lots of struggles to adjust in the new country which i am doing too. it is real hard me to maintain my budget and study together. there is a kind of scary thing in my mind if i could not maintain my status in order to stay in the US. there are lots of responsibilities in front of me which made me matured besides many problems. now a days i am thinking if i was in my own country and own home how happy my life would be. we should be happy in what we have and we should keep in the mind we are the people from different country and obviously we will not have same right as the citizen of that country. this made the life more happier of immigrants if we keep this thing in our mind.

My own immigration experience

In Thailand, all persons who plan to travel to the United States to establish permanent residency are required to have a US immigrant visa.

From my experience, it is not difficult for me to get one. I think that the important things that make Thais get a US visa are education background, work experiences from a well known company, and the amount in a bank statement. If you have all of these in good condition, it is not hard to get a visa. However sometimes it depends on your luck too. When you are interviewing for the visa, you have to have a confident to talk about your plan in staying in the United Stated and say something to show that you will absolutely go back to Thailand in the end.

To me, the immigration experience that I faced happened when I started to study ESL program three years ago. My friend and I transferred from an ESL school to a University. We were studying in Master’s Degree class in 4th week then we got an email that we lost our student status. How come? We did not understand how it happened. We found out later that the ESL school did not transfer our names to the University. And even the university where we were accepted, did not have our legal visa status as F-1 Visa status. Both schools never give us any information how the transfer process works.
We did not know that we have to send all documents back and forth between them. We thought that just gave all documents to new school then we are finished.

In the end, we had to pay about $500 to get the student status back. Both schools did not take any responsibility, they concluded that it was our misunderstanding of international students. We cannot do anything about it just pay for it and realize whenever this type of problem happens in the United States it costs a lot of money. :(

Immigration experience

My country is Thailand. We have three neighbour around our country that's Laos, Myanmar and Kampuchea. All of them was like underdeveloped country and they did a lot of problem to my country. The big problem was a foreign national. A population of neighbour country they move to my country to be illegal and make a problem for example problem from a crime, safe, labour and evironment. The important problem is labour because they scramble from population in our country to be unemployed because that wage they want is cheap. Now a government try to stop this problem they set some organize to register illegal for decrease labour problem and out of work .Illigal can work in my country but they must to pay a tax rate same our population.

Immigration Experience from someone I know

When I was young I heard about illegal immigrants in Thailand. A majority of illegal immigrants are from Myanmar, China and South Asia. Most of these immigrants settle as unskilled labor, construction worker, domestic labor, factory employee and even work as helper in rice fields. Thai people are hired because they are willing to accept low wages in Thailand. I know about illegal immigration statistics of Thailand indicate that there are around 525,480 illegal worker present in the country.
My friend family used to hire housekeeper from Myanmar but they do not know she is illegal worker they just think about the low wages.Unitl one day the police came to their house and arrested the housekeeper who illegal entry and arrested my mother friend who hired illegal workers. The housekeeper was deport because she arrived in Thailand without a passport and worked.

Population growth and its consequences.

The annual percent change in the population resulting from a surplus or
(defict) of birth over death and the balance of megrant entering and leaving a country
the rate my be positive or negarive.
The affects of population growth are veried and vast.while population growth,
of any species, may be benificial to a certain extent, there may come time when the number
in the population exceeds the nutural resources available to sustain it.this referred to as
overpopulation.the consequences of such an event are severe and major.
First as the population grows the apportunities for quality, available houssing may become an
in issue.More people crowded into less space chiefly in some countries in Africa and Asia.
In other case, access to food and clean water may become a huge issue so that can result a lot
diseases and famine.More that that population growth can cause joblessness, waste control,
polluttion,violence,health proplems,transportation....
However in other hand population growth has some advantages can be reflected positively on
the society, when you have more people that means more development since we have enough
young people who are effective and active.in addition to that it s the key role of policy, nations experiencing the growth must have sound policies to direct it.Countries that can develop better
health care and medicine, economic plans and social improvements that keep pace with population growth will thrive.

My Experience

Immigration experience
When people emigrate from their country the adaptation processes can be difficult for them. I believe that, the person who has been immigrating once can learn a lot. There are many reasons why immigration is tough for people.
First reason is culture shock. People, tradition, food, service and clothes everything is different. For example, I came to USA four years ago. I bought insurance in my country. It’s travel insurance for one year. When I got sick I went to see a doctor. My insurance didn’t want to cover my medical bills. It was a problem, because the bill was very high. I’ve calling thousand times to my insurance company. The answer was negative. Finally, only one year later I solved this problem. In my point of view, people need to be very carefully with chosen insurance company even they work with in USA.
Second reason, is language issue. I got panic, because I scared to talk with anyone. I thought people don’t understand me and I looked stooped. Unfortunately, I attended one very good language school. All staff and teachers were nice and professionals. They help to get rid of it my fear. After a while I start speaking English and communicate with other people. Step by step I learn lot things. Only now I can say that I really like it live in USA and I’m really enjoying my life

about population

Population growth is very slow because every parent have only one or two chirlden. It is not like a long time ago, they have had alot children in one family.before average in one family have 5 to 10 children even the people live on the city and people live in countryside.

i feel like every country have the same baby boom, because poor people get birth more than riches people. The poor people just stay home and get pregnant all the time, and the rich people they go to work and they don't have time to take care they children that why the proportion of population is slow, and on the other hand,,today alot of young poeple they abortion when they get pregnant. Moreover, it's not crowed than three yeas ago because the earthquakes and floods, and famines took too many people.
In my school they have less students then before, before they have about 40_47 students in one class but today they only have 30_35 students in one class.
And my experience is every family they control birth.

Population and Immigration

During the years population growth so fast. It is influenced by three factors mortality: birth rates or fertility and net immigration. Growth is comming mostly throught immigration . Is the largest factor contributing. Its effect everythings and everyones. Population growth is overcrowding schools, clogging roads, swallowing up open space, taxing the environment and raising the cost of living for all. Its directly responsible for unsustainable demand of resources. The result is increased popullation, deforestation, wast and habitat destruction.

For me population growth and immigration is importan. I am immigrant also to US to study like most people in my age. I think immigration can help us understend more better diffrent culture and meet new friends from all the World. Its good experience for many results.
My many neighbours and friends love learning and sharing between cultures. One my friend is from Ireland. We both from the same continent but we found a lot of differents and opinions about immigration and experience here. He love share with us stores and histories about this country. He showe us many picture from his house. He is open person for people who would love immigrant to his country.
My experience is good here. I met a lot of friends. I feel more freedoms and access to nature and education. Living far away from family is hard but have the chance to try immigrat somewhere is good for experience and find friends.

HW1: Write about it!

The More Crowded, the More Poluted

Were you born and raised in a big city? What is your feeling about your home town now? I would have a lot to tell if somebody asked me such questions. My country is quite small but my city is the biggest one of the country. I remember hanging out with kids in the neighborhood, it was so much fun. We could play soccer, hide and seek, ride the bikes, and do all of the kids things most of the time because it was quite spacious and the environment was so fresh. But now everything changes because there are so many people in the city.

It has been too crowded in my city because people want to come to make a better life. Life seems to be harder and harder. We now have to work very hard to make ends meet, to support our family. Years ago we were very easy to live because life was quite simple. The kids could walk or bike to shool, play around with the neighbor kids with things they could random get to have fun. We did not have to pay much for the tuition and other fees at school also. But now, thank to the technology we have so many devices to satisfy us in our daily life. Our children now need to have cars, or scooters to ride to school; they also want all of the advanced things such as computers, Ipods, cell phones, etc. For the parents, they want the best for their kids so it pushes us working harder to earn money. That is why my city is packed now. Everybody from different parts of the country has been moving to the city to get a better job so they can make more money. I feel uneasy everytime I want to go to somewhere because it is likely to have traffic most of the time. It takes bouble time to get to somewhere compare to the past, and you usually hear the horn from other vehicles. This makes me feel more depressed when you spend all day at work then have to stand that noise on the way home.

Another bad thing we have to live with is polution. There are lots of buildings and factories now in the city that make the air poluted. In the past, we could easy get fresh air when we got out for a walk, then we felt so relaxing. Now we cannot have it anaymore. Dust, smoke, and smell are everywhere. I feel my clothes have tons of dust on when I go outside a few hours, and it smells really bad. It is not surprising when we find more people have lung diseases. Other than that, reseach shows the environment does have the affact on our health, especially it can lead to cancer. Not only is the air poluted, the water is also affected. One time, many places in my city lacked of clean water. We had to pay through the nose to buy it, just clean water. It was because the chemical from the factories makes water in the city contaminated. It took a quite long time for the government to fix the problem.

Those are just two of a number of consequences that overpopulation can lead to. We now trying to build more factories in the countryside and other parts of the country so we have equal population everywhere. I think we, individual, should knowledge and try to make our environment fresher little by little by doing recycling and not throwing rubbish out on the street or river. This will have us avoid diseases that occurs when we do not keep the environment clean.
